Management of confirmed cases and household contacts at school

Where a child is identified as a positive case, the following process will be followed.

  1. Parents/carers contact the school via the VicEd COVID portal or by phone or written notification. Our school email address is golden.square.ps@education.vic.gov.au and Leanne's (Principal) email address is Leanne.Miller@education.vic.gov.au
  2. Parents/carers report the positive result to the Department of Health online system or via the cornavirus hotline at 1800 675 398.
  3. Children who report a positive result must isolate for seven days and not attend school during this period of time. They should not return to school after the seven days if they remain symptomatic unless these are ongoing or are caused by an underlying health condition. A certificate from a GP clearing the child to return is a positive way to help maintain a sense of safety amongst all community members.
  4. Where a student is a household contact of a positive case (that is they have spent more than four hours with someone who has COVID-19 inside a house accommodations, or care facility) they must inform the school. They can still attend school if the following additional measures are taken: the school is informed that they are a household contact; the child wears a face mask when indoors (8-yrs and older); and the child undertakes rapid antigen tests five times over the 7 day period.
  5. The principal will notify the school community through a daily email when a staff member or student has returned a positive COVID-19 test result and they had attended school. The notification will include the dates of attendance, the affected group/cohort or year levels and any other relevant information.
